Privacy Policy

Effective May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GavelSight LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“GavelSight,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses, and protects information when you use the GavelSight website and services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

We treat the judges, case types, and queries you research as confidential litigation-strategy information. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it to identify your clients, matters, or strategy to third parties.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information — name, email address, firm or organization name, and password (stored hashed).
  • Billing information — processed by our payment processors (e.g., Stripe, Paddle, or PayPal). We receive limited transaction and subscription metadata; we do not store full payment-card numbers.
  • Usage data — judge lookups, case-type and motion inputs, predictions run, and feature interactions, used to deliver and improve the Service.
  • Device and log data — IP address, browser type, timestamps, and diagnostic/error data.
  • Cookies and analytics — cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, and aggregate analytics. You can control cookies through your browser; some features may not function without them.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to: provide, maintain, and secure the Service; authenticate users and enforce per-seat licensing; process subscriptions and billing; respond to support requests; analyze and improve features and accuracy; detect fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We process data to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate business interests, and with your consent where required.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only to:

  • Service providers / subprocessors acting on our behalf under contract — payment processing, cloud hosting, email delivery, product analytics, and error monitoring (e.g., Sentry).
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, the public, or GavelSight.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Usage and log data are retained for a limited period for security and product-improvement purposes and then deleted or aggregated. You may request deletion of your account as described below.

5. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected individuals and authorities as required by applicable law, including Florida’s Information Protection Act (Fla. Stat. § 501.171).

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of sale/sharing or targeted advertising, and to appeal a denied request. These rights are available to, among others, residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and Florida (Florida Digital Bill of Rights, effective July 1, 2024), and, where applicable, individuals protected by the EU/UK GDPR. We do not sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To exercise any right, contact us at [email protected]; we will verify and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.

7. Children

The Service is intended for legal professionals and is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International Users

GavelSight is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date and, where appropriate, communicated to account holders.
